Community Opportunities
Inprint and BCM HEAL Book Club
The and BCM HEAL Book Club, a collaboration between Inprint and 91¹ú²úÊÓÆµ Humanities Expression & Arts Lab (HEAL), is designed for those involved in the healthcare community. Professional caregivers and students of all disciplines, including physicians, nurses, chaplains, pharmacists, therapists, patient care technicians, unit clerks, etc. are invited to participate in discussions of carefully-curated books. Multiple genres will be explored, including biography-in-collage, autobiography, fiction, and poetry.
The book club takes place quarterly on a Tuesday evening in March, June, September and December. Most meetings are virtual from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The December 2025 meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Inprint House, 1520 West Main Street.

Houston Run With All Your Heart 5K
On April 18, join Baylor students and Curing Kids Cancer for the Houston Run With All Your Heart 5K at Sugar Land Memorial Park. Curing Kids Cancer, a national nonprofit, has raised more than $30 million for pediatric cancer research in the Texas Medical Center and beyond. Enjoy face-painting, live music and other fun activities for all ages. .
Pulse in the Park
From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 23, attend Pulse in the Park, a free, family-friendly community event focused on hypertension screening and heart health education. The event will be at the Commons of Hermann Park, at the corner of Fannin and Cambridge streets. The initiative was developed through Baylor’s BSHEQ coursework, including discussions on health equity, advocacy and prevention, with the goal of translating those concepts into meaningful community impact. At the event, students will provide blood pressure and pulse screenings, share practical health education and connect attendees with relevant community resources. There will be a dedicated kid’s station with interactive activities designed to make heart health education engaging and accessible.

Screen time and sleep
Wondering if screen time affects your child’s sleep quality, development and problem-solving skills? 91¹ú²úÊÓÆµâ€™s TECH Study is looking for parents with a 3-4-year-old child in the Greater Houston area to participate in a 12-month long study testing new technology to measure screen use while evaluating screen time effects on children’s health. Goodnight Screen Media Study
Children aged 4 years and their parents are needed for a study to learn about the effects of screen media use on children's sleep, memory and attention. The study will include three in-person assessments to measure height, weight, mental tasks and saliva collection with two overnight visits at the Children's Nutrition Research Center to assess the child's sleep and circadian rhythms via saliva sampling. MIND Toddlers Study
Houston families with 12- to 18-month olds are needed for this study that examines the relationship between toddlers' dietary intake and cognitive development. It involves two visits to the Texas Children's Hospital Clinical Research Center over a 6-month period.
