Dr. Nambi’s clinical background includes training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology (with a focus on prevention and non-invasive cardiology) and Vascular Medicine with expertise in ultrasound based imaging, while his PhD was in clinical research. He currently serves as the program director of the lipids and lipoprotein fellowship at 91¹ú²úÊÓÆµ and is a staff cardiologist at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs hospital. Dr. Nambi has served several national societies in several capacities: he has been an officer in the Southwest Lipid Association, served as the chair of the vascular council and member of the education committee at the American Society of Echocardiography, as a speaker/ grant reviewer for the American Heart Association; he is the topic coordinator for the prevention sessions for the upcoming scientific sessions of the American College of Cardiology. He is locally and nationally known as an expert in lipidology and cardiovascular prevention.
His research interests are primarily in evaluating the use of imaging (ultrasound) and biomarkers in cardiovascular risk prediction and prevention. He has been very involved with the Atherosclerosis Risk In Communities (ARIC) study and serves on the ancillary study section of the ARIC study. He has over than 90 publications and has been an invited speaker in several national conferences.
